An unforgettable weekend: Pokémon GO City Safari Amsterdam – September 27 & 28, 2025 #
In late summer 2025, Amsterdam was transformed into a giant playground for Pokémon trainers from all over Europe (and beyond) for two days. The Pokémon GO City Safari took place on September 27 and 28, 2025, and was the first major event of its kind in the Netherlands in a long time. Tickets for Saturday were completely sold out—a clear sign of how much the community had been looking forward to this gathering.
Encounters & Community #
Even before the opening, you could sense that something special was in the air: trainers from Germany, England, Belgium, France, Mexico, Peru, and many other countries traveled to attend this event. Many already knew each other from online groups, some were old friends—and numerous new friendships were formed.
One highlight was supporting our team member and content creator Valerio DreamerPogo with his video and photo shoots. This gave us the opportunity to meet trainers from his community from Hengelo!

The on-site experience #
On Saturday afternoon, we attended a meetup of the Pokémon GO community “Den Bosch,” which took place in the central square “Dam.” Numerous trainers gathered here for a large group photo. The square quickly filled with people holding their smartphones, meeting friends, and sharing their enthusiasm. The pictures taken there symbolize what Pokémon GO has always been about: connecting people through gaming and community, regardless of nationality or origin.
In the afternoon, another meetup was on the agenda, this time together with YouTuber HanniMew in Vondelpark. Around 170 participants found their way there. Vondelpark provided a relaxed, green backdrop for conversations, Pokémon trading, raids, and lots of photo opportunities.
Feelings, memories, and outlook #
What made this event special was not only the hunt for shiny Pokémon or the bonuses—it was the feeling of being part of a vibrant, international, and inspiring community. The enthusiasm was contagious, the conversations were warm, and the positive energy was palpable!
We return to Düsseldorf with many memories and new friendships—and with great anticipation for future City Safaris and Pokémon GO events in Europe and around the world.
